What Florida's WDO inspection covers, what we look for, and how we treat it.
Termites and other wood-destroying organisms quietly damage South Florida homes and buildings every year. We find them, treat them, and help keep them from coming back, from bait stations and soil treatments to borate wood treatment.
Florida's WDO inspection looks for these four. Here's what each one leaves behind.
Native Eastern and Formosan (the "super termite"). Live in the soil
Infest wood directly. No soil contact needed
Wet or dry rot in moisture-damaged wood
Powderpost beetles and old house borers
The right treatment depends on which termite you have and how widespread it is.
Soil treatment at the foundation, or monitored bait stations
Spot treatment, or tent fumigation for widespread activity
Soaks into wood to guard against termites, beetles, carpenter ants and decay fungi. Preventive or remedial. Ideal for new construction and re-roofs while the wood is exposed.
For subterranean termites. Bait stations go in the ground around the home. Termites feed and carry the bait back, wiping out the colony. Stations are monitored on a regular schedule.
Simple habits that make your property less inviting to termites.
